Making the Future
“Participation is the key,” said Dina Pelletier, Co-founder of a new online collaboration website for manufacturing. “We wanted to create a site people could help build — just like manufacturing itself — it takes many people to make things.”
What is it?
“FactoryoftheFuture.org is a central idea exchange for people who make things,” said Dr. Mitch Kennedy, Co-founder. “Technology is propelling us forward in every aspect of life, and factories are no exception.”
“We wanted to take advantage of this by creating a ‘Mastermind for Manufacturing©’, a collaboration platform to help manufacturers and advance society,” said Ms. Pelletier.
Nothing Else Like It
“Despite searching long and hard, we could only find groups and projects tightly focused upon one aspect of manufacturing (i.e. continuous improvement, a specific field of engineering, etc.) or one sector, such as food and beverages or aerospace,” said Dr. Kennedy.
“While these are great efforts individually, the movement to a new way of ‘making things’ that addresses emerging opportunities and current disconnects is a larger scope than most sites can fully develop. True collaboration between departments within a company, and between different manufacturing sectors, did not appear to be represented,” said Dr. Kennedy.
Empowerment
“The site is geared toward empowering students, workers, management and owners to find answers, share their knowledge, and help others,” said Dina Pelletier, pulling from her experience as a Community Organizer with the Hartford Areas Rally Together. “We want to empower people to be part of building the factory of the future through FactoryoftheFuture.org.”
How is it different?
“Every aspect of the site gives people the opportunity to share their knowledge, help others and showcase their smarts,” said Ms. Pelletier.
Join Us!
“We really believe that ‘Two heads are better than one’ and that many minds = exponential progress!” said Ms. Pelletier. We are offering a Free 1-year Membership to everyone who wants to join us during our start-up phase; plus, everyone who signs up now gets a free 7-page toolkit: The Factory Preparedness Planning Guide, which is useful to any business interested in being prepared for emergencies,” said Ms. Pelletier.
